Burqa ban in Italy-Islam & Life
Featuring Prof. Tariq Ramadan, European Muslim Intellectual on the issue of Muslim integration in Europe.
Following its European neighbors, Italy passed a bill for banning the wearing of face-veils (Burqa) in public places.
An Italian parliamentary commission approved the draft law on Tuesday August 2nd. The law will be forwarded to the Italian parliament following summer recess. Under this bill, violators would be fined up to 300 Euros ($420) or sentenced to community service aimed at encouraging integration. In this edition of the show we ask the following question: What is Italy aiming to achieve from banning Burqa?
